
PSYCHOEDUCATIONAL ASSESSMENTS
Psychoeducational assessments are comprehensive evaluations that can assist young people and their families in understanding their unique learning needs and strengths.
Psychoeducational (Learning) Assessments
These assessments can identify and support a range of concerns that may affect success in school or other areas of life including:
Learning difficulties in reading, writing, or math
Challenges understanding or remembering new information
ADHD
Mental health or behavioural challenges
Giftedness
Developmental delays
Psychoeducational assessments can improve self-awarness, identify strategies for success, and make recommendations to support young people at home, school and with the transition to post-secondary education and/or the workplace.
Psychoeducational assessments are approximately 12 to 14 billable hours and include the following:
Interviews
Review of school records and relevant documents
Completion of questionnaires
Cognitive testing
Academic testing
Scoring and interpretation
Comprehensive report and feedback session to review the results and recommendations
OTHER ASSESSMENTS OFFERED

Giftedness refers to a unique learning profile wherein young people may display exceptional reasoning and processing abilities. Assessments for gifted learners can help identify strategies to enrich their learning and support young people with the unique challenges that may accompany their exceptional abilities. Gifted assessment can also support applications to specialized education programs, including the Calgary Board of Education GATE program and Westmount Charter School, among others.
Gifted assessments are approximately 10 to 12 billable hours and include the following:
Interviews
Review of school records and relevant documents
Cognitive testing
Academic testing (optional)
Scoring and interpretation
Comprehensive report and feedback session to review the results and recommendations

An assessment for ADHD may be helpful when a young person or individual is experiencing difficulties self-managing their attention and behaviour. Symptoms of ADHD can include inattention, forgetfulness, hyperactivity, impulsivity, disorganization, and problems starting and completing tasks in a self-directed manner, among others. ADHD can significantly affect success at school and/or work and a comprehensive assessment can be helpful for clarifying diagnoses, increasing self-awareness, and identifying strategies for success.
ADHD assessments for children and young people are approximately 8 to 10 billable hours and include the following:
Comprehensive diagnostic interview
Completion of questionnaires
Review of school record and/or relevant documentation
Scoring and interpretation
Comprehensive report and feedback session to review the results and recommendations

Individuals with developmental delays may qualify for adult services and supports through the Government of Alberta. An assessment for PDD (Persons with Developmental Disabilities)/AISH (Assisted Income for the Severely Handicapped) evaluates an individual’s cognitive functioning and ability to independently engage in activities of daily living. PDD/AISH assessments can support individuals and families in completing applications for adult services and identify strategies to support long-term well-being.
Assessments for PDD/AISH are approximately 8 to 10 billable hours and include the following:

Cognitive testing
Scoring and interpretation
Comprehensive report and feedback session to review the results and recommendations
